FRISKY LOVES ROMANIA
|

30 JULY 2011 @ 6AM Los Angeles | 09AM New York | 1600 BUCHAREST [Calculate time where you are]
The Concept: Pick a region, usually a country, and showcase its electronic dance music to the world. The hand-picked DJs from the friskyRadio robots are sure to paint a unique picture of whats hot in that part of the world.
The Show: friskyRadio Loves...
The History: It all began with Argentina. Back in 2005, we had an idea: Why not do a show solely on Argentina, where some of the most passionate friskyRadio DJs and fans come from. Indeed, the first friskyRadio Loves Argentina wasnt even called "friskyRadio Loves Argentina," for even we didnt know what a unique concept and show we were pioneering. At the time, there was simply nothing like it anywhere: not on Internet Radio, not in FM radio. Like so many things on friskyRadio - we were the first to bring the 'Country/Region' showcase concept to the world. Since then have visited well over 30 countries or regions, from Russia to Finland, from Turkey to Greece and everything in between.
friskyRadio Loves ROMANIA: 16 of the finest DJs Romania has to offer - all served up for you without leaving your home! Enjoy the sounds of Romania!

Adi Dumitra, the founder of Only Records, was born back in 1974 and started listening to electronic music when he was quite young. As he discovered new genres of fine house music, he started promoting that sound locally. In due time, he began traveling frequently on gigs. As his passion for house music morphed into something bigger, he and his friends supported the scene by experiencing live sets by world-class DJs in different clubs all over Europe. In 1999 he decided to start mixing his own style of dance music, which could be described as a deep, hypnotic and mesmerizing house.
But that is not all. During his sets, he paints the room with the sound of techy flavours, hence concocting a roller coaster ride through all the genres with his music. With his own record labels at his disposal ( Only Records - the first ever Romanian label focusing on releasing the best underground house music and SNEJL ? a sister label started in 2007which came out as a neccessity to express a different side of the music genres, the more weirder, intelligent and experimental one, so we're focused on more like unique, original and self-esteemed sounds ... coming from deep roots through tech, techno, electronica, minimal and the ever-changing house), he allowed many new talents to display their artistic expressions through them a label which got enormous support and feedback from the biggest names in the industry including John Digweed, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Laurent Garnier, Satoshi Tomiie, Sander Kleinenberg, Nick Warren, Desyn Masiello, Pete Tong, and includes artists under roster like : Taho, Estroe, Ozgur Can, Deep Mariano, Ludovic Vendi, Dinamoe, Claudio Mate, Dilo, Rouzbeh Delavari, Subksy, Livio & Roby, Introvert, Soundexile, Claes Rosen, Christian Malloni and many more

With an eye for details and fueled by my passion for the everyday sounds that we usually come across without giving them the slightest attention, I started to compose my music.
Sometimes, depending on the mood or the complexity that we are prepared to see in the songs we listen to, some of my tracks might be misinterpreted or misunderstood. For me, the complexity of the sounds and the uncommon and unlimited ways they could be combined is very inspiring and enchanting and listening to such sounds coming together as a complete track is an absolutely vibrating experience.
I see music as the perfect way to unleash your energy, to empower and to energize the people on the dance floor. A great philosopher once said music represents the soul of the Universe, the wings of thought, the wind of imagination, the charm of youth, giving life and joy to all things.
The Prodigy and their music stimulated my composing skills, at the very beginning. I was fascinated about how they had managed to weave the sounds in their songs to create the music that I still consider to be at the core of my inspiration and that is what has guided me to become a self improving tech house dj, a progressive house dj and a techno dj.
2007 was the year when my first video was released. It proved to be a great success and it appeared on several TV channels. The track went on air at the local and national radios, making it in the playlists especially after being performed at the opening of a prestigious Club. The title says a lot: Hypnotic. It is both the name of the Club and of the track.

Dj Butoane
 |
My name is Pribu Bogdan Alexandru and I play music under the name Dj Butoane. My contact with electronic music dates back to 2004. In 2007 I started to seriously mix the grooves and being doing it ever since. I've played at a couple of parties, most of them organized by my friends. For 2 years now I'm weekly doing mixes for a Radio based in Romania in a show called "Illegal Grooves".
During my musical experience I've been influenced by artists like Digweed, Cattaneo, Steve Lawler, Nick Warren, Seb Fontaine, Luke fair when it comes to club music but also got attracted by experimentalists as Moby, Groove Armada, Mylo, New Order or Crystal Method. In all this time my style suffered some changes influenced of course also by the evolution of the electronic music. A connection was bound between me and progressive house, which evolved with time into a style characterized by progressive tech blended with hypnotic techno sometimes deep otherwise dub. I love and respect music and that's why I am always happy to play anything that catches my ear considering it as a challenge everytime and giving it my best.
I've had my first Guest Mix with Frisky about a year ago. I am really happy to play again for this amazing Radio.
Health, Love, Music & Peace !

Ivel Tax
 |
Takacs Levente, aka: ivel Tax, was born in Romania.
In the beginning he started by playing music at private parties, and later becoming resident DJ at clubs in Transylvania.
DJing dance music in clubs and radio stations pushed him further into the music industry. During his experience he discovered and understood the beauty of the electronic
sounds, and as a result he plays a combination of house, deep techno and minimal.
Admittedly he tries to combine them to make the perfect show for any crowd. He has the passion for electronic music, and has the patience of an open minded person, which trained
him to listen to all kinds and different genres of music, preparing him for anything dance floor has to offer.
His current Green Apple radio show goes from strength to strength, as does the support for his own productions. On the production side we can point to the "Brotherhood" released on Terpsichore Records which had the sadness-tinged honor of hosting a remix from the legendary, Aaron-Carl.
Funky Church released on All Inn Black, with huge feedback and support from international DJ's and media!
Locked In Studio EP released on Studio Soulrock!
Despite his youth the disc jockey has a unique confidence dealing with what he loves without any trace of pretension!
He also runs Disco Birds, an underground record label!

Xplore
 |
Born in Pitesti, Romania, he showed early his interest in music, starting taking up piano and theory lessons at age of 10. His love for music was then for classics and also rock music bands from heavy metal to plain rock and alternative. He had a vinyl with Queen's greatest hits, side A and B which he listened until it got worn out if that would be possible.
At the time, there were the 90's and british-based MTV was broadcasting in Romania, so he could watch all the real shows that were at the time in London, including all the 80's and 90's great musicians, from which he drew a lot of inspiration.
He started collecting rock music that his cousin was recording for him on cassette tapes. After finishing music school, he suddenly got in touch with the personal computers and since he applied for computer science special class in highschool which he got in the 4th, his attention was directed from rock music to electronic music. That was made at that time on Atari and Amiga computers, in so called "trackers" which allowed you to create a 4 or 8 track music composition, respectively on 4 and 8 tracks. In his first tracks, Xpl was using short samples triggered from a sample-based software, drum loops and various voices that he got from his cheap tape player, processed with few simple effects.
The good thing about these music composer softwares was that they allowed you to see how other electronic music composers did their music and also you got full access to samples inside the tune, so he got the chance to see how "tracked" music it's beeing done.
So his interest rose more and soon he got in contact with the local demoscene that was organising PC-parties, meaning contests in which people presented animated graphics and music, made for the PC scene, at that time. He gets toghether with a group called Plastic Surgery (later named Transdimensional) and started creating music for 3d animated demos that were purely hard-coded in assembler and C++.
