J&S PROJECT

The J&S Project is composed of two Italian Producers: Angelo Vitaliano and Antonio Smaldone aka dj Tony S, who are respectively a musician and a deejay. So the J&S Project fuses melodies and grooves. It was originated in Pompeii, near Naples, South of Italy, just under the volcano called .Vesuvio., where the electronic music scene has always been full of talented producers. Angelo has a great experience of live performances with synthesizers and sound designing; instead, Tony has a long experience as underground deejay, and in 2002 they realized they had the same target in their life: to create music. So they decided to be together in this adventure.

J&S Project's sound could be defined as a mixture between the progressive sounds by Vangelis and the golden old Tech-House grooves by Danny Tenaglia; they like to call their style .Wide House.. To get an idea of the J&S.s sound, try to imagine mystic and cinematic melodies flowing on a powerful and driving groove, but always with a strong underground mood. The atmospheres that these guys are able to create are so eclectic that their tracks have amazed a large variety of deejays and producers, everyone with a completely different musical taste. J&S Project's tunes are, indeed, in the tracklists and charts of deejays such as: James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo, Steve Lawler, Flavio Vecchi, Moshic, Anthony Pappa, Subsky, Trafik, Jeff Bennett, Christian Cambas, Shiloh, Randall Jones (from Tigerhook Corp), Blue Room Project, Perry O'Neil, Ralf, M.A.S. Collective, Adi Dumitra (Only Rec) and many more.

Also, it is important to underline their vision of the live performance: not only a deejay set. They look at the club as a real .underground concert hall., where to bring their show always using different .toys. such as turntables, synthesizers, CDjs, EFX units and so on.

TONY S aka Antonio Smaldone
Born in Pompeii, on April 24 1973 by a .turntable. mother and a .deejay mixer. father.his destiny was already done! At the age of 16 Tony started mixing in the first underground clubs in Naples. In that period, 1989, his performances were characterized by the first American House productions. For example Lil Louis .French Kiss., Joe Smooth .Promised Land. or Marshall Jefferson .Move Your Body.. In the 1990s, Tony started following performances of dj/producers such as David Morales and the myth of MAW. At the end of the 1990s he started to enter the .new electronic world., influenced by European Techno Music and by the evolving Electronic Music Scene. In that period his favourite productions are Tech-House and Deep-House; he enjoyed producers such as Peace Division or Deep Dish and the live performances of deejays Carl Cox or Danny Tenaglia. So he fastly joined the new progressive scene, going beyond the old American House. In 1998, Tony started courses as a Sound Engineer. In 2002 Tony decided to begin his new adventure: it was time to become a dj/producer. The J&S Project was born.

ANGELO J aka Angelo Vitaliano
Born in Pompeii, on March 18 1976, by a .pianoforte. mother and a .synthesizer. father.you know the story, his destiny too was already done! At the age of 14 Angelo started studying pianoforte, and listening to Masters of Classical Music, such as Gesualdo Da Venosa, J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart. Suddenly, during his classical studies, at the age of 18, he re-discovered his father's old EPs from the progressive-rock 1960s: masterpieces like the .White Album. by The Beatles and .Tarkus. by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Studying Keith Emerson's performances, Angelo started getting interested in electronic keyboards, enjoying their expressive power. An other important musical source was the dark-pop revolution of the 1980s by Depeche Mode. Then he started to study jazz piano, listening to Miles Davis.s classic Jazz works and following Miles's evolution towards electronic Jazz. In that period, 1997, he practiced as a Sound Engineer by attending many courses. At the end of the 1990s his experience with the progressive-rock band .The Jackals. gave him the opportunity to improve his style with synthesizers. live performances. In 2002, after meeting Tony, the J&S Project was definitely born.
